classic decks matchupWe take a look at the performance of each Classic Deck against each other. After 2 weeks gathering battles, we now have enough data to provide a reliable analysis of the matchups.
Net WinRate (NWR) charts are great to see clear matchup advantages of some decks over others. The NWR range goes from negative (disadvantageous matchup, in orange) to positive (adventageous, in green).
Ideally, for all decks to be balanced, you'd see very neutral NWRs for all matchups, or a balance of adventageous/disadvantageous matchups: 2-3 good and 2-3 bad for each deck.
Season 7 had a few balanced decks, but also a clear winner and 2 with very bad performance. Let's take a look at them by order of success:
Given the lack of spells in the Classic Decks selection, this bait deck had a great performance, with positive winrate against all others. The simplicity in playing this archetype usually plays in its favor when used by casual players.
This fast cycle deck only fell against Three Musketeers. It's worth noting that it had a +40% NWR against Exenado+Rocket, which is usually considered a counter for Balloon.
A very balanced deck which only had a clear WinRate advantage over Graveyard. Several decks didn't have proper answers to the minion horde, so this was probably used as an advantage frequently.
This deck starts the "bad luck" section, as it had hard matchups against the Top3 decks. This deck was the most polarising of the set, as it only had hard counters or easy matchups, and no balanced ones.
This strongly defensive deck only had a slightly positive WinRate against X-Bow and Three Musketeers. It might have been more successful if the deck pool had tankier win conditions, as that's where the Exenado defense shines.
With the two hardest matchups of the set (more than 40% negative NWR against MK-Bait and Balloon), X-Bow was clearly the worst performing deck. Although it managed to get a few close matchups, it still lost all five of them.
