Spirit Empress

In case a full update wasn’t enough new content, Clash Royale is also releasing a new card with the start of next season!

Spirit Empress is a Legendary card with a mechanic that’s completely new for the game: 2 cards in one!

She can be deployed in 2 different forms:

• A 3 elixir ground troop
• A 6 elixir flying troop

You can’t actively choose between the 2 forms. Instead, she will automatically transform depending on the available elixir.

• Less than 3 elixir: can’t use her
• From 3 to 5.9 elixir: ground form
• With 6 or more elixir: flying form

Before we look at the card stats, this is the card description:

Behold the Spirit Empress, the First of Her Name, Protector of Spirits, Rider of Dragons.

Summon her as a hard-hitting ground troop for 3 Elixir, or atop her majestic spirit dragon for 6 Elixir.

Card Stats

Here is a quick comparison of the 2 forms:

Ground form

In this table we compare the ground form with single-target melee cards in the 2-4 elixir range:

We can see that her Hit Points don't stand out, but she has quite high DPS. Her role is closer to a Mini Pekka than a Knight.

It's also useful to know her single-hit damage, to know which troops she can one-shot:

Flying form

Despite being twice as expensive, the flying form has almost the same HP and worse DPS. But this isn’t that strange, flying troops usually have worse stats than ground troops to compensate their inherent advantage.

In this case, we have less troops to make direct comparisons:

Her combination of range and single-target damage makes her similar to Flying Machine in some ways.

If we just look at HP and DPS for the cost, she doesn't seem very appealing compared to cheaper options like Phoenix and Mega Minion. But the range of these alternatives is much smaller, so she may find her own niche.

Her high HP gives her decent immunity against spells, similar to an Inferno Dragon.

The single target damage of the flying form is the same as the ground form, it's the slower hit speed what causes the lower DPS. This means that the same table of damage against small troops applies:

Empress & Mirror

The Mirror spell can only copy the form in which Spirit Empress was deployed, and it doesn’t change depending on the elixir available.

• If you deployed the ground form, Mirror will also provide the ground form for 4 elixir

• If you deployed the flying form, Mirror will also provide the flying form for 7 elixir

Troop or Spell?

Although the card stats label her as a troop, we found it interesting that in the game files she is actually listed as a spell.

Presumably this is just a intermediary stage to deploy the appropriate form as a troop.

Masteries

Spirit Empress will be released with 2 mastery task sets.

Set 1: Damage Dealer

1. Deal 205,000 Damage (Get 2 Spirit Empress cards)

2. Deal 610,000 Damage (Get 8,000 Gold)

3. Deal 1,020,000 Damage (Get 100 Gems)

Set 2: Troop Destroyer

1. Destroy 700 enemy Troops (Get 12,000 Gold)

2. Destroy 2,000 enemy Troops (Get 2 Legendary Wild Cards)

3. Destroy 3,500 enemy Troops (Get 18,000 Gold)

Mastery Task progress can be obtained in Trophy Road, Ranked, Clan Wars and Events.

Card Release

When the new season starts (July 7th), Spirit Empress will be available for free in the Supercell Store.
