Top Ladder Stats - March 4 - End of February 2024 Season 56
In-depth look at card usage and other season statistics that are relevant for Clash Royale
The first 2-evolution meta.
Table of Contents
The Path of Legends leaderboard is a great place to consistently find the best players and to see how they adapt to the meta. Every first Monday of a month, the season ends and a new one begins. While players are competing to reach the top, we are tracking their results and deck choices.
With this blog, we present a summary and a few insights of all the data that we collected during the last days of the season. If you want to find full decks, we published another blog a few days ago covering that; this blog mainly looks at card stats.
Given that we had balance changes at the start of this season, these stats will be representative of the previous meta instead of the current one.
Main Stats Format
In most of the following sections, we'll share stats in tables with this format:
These stats are based on the decks and card collections of the best players, the ones who finished among the top 1,000 players in Path of Legends (PoL).
- Usage refers to the share of players who used the card in their main deck.
- Average Rank is the mean of all the placements from players who used this card. The center point is 500, so if the value is below 500, it means the card is quite good.
- Have It Maxed refers to the share of players who have that card at Level 15, which is the ideal level to compete in PoL. The companion bar chart also shows the amount of players who have this card at Level 14 in light blue. If the light blue range is wide, it implies that a lot of players don't consider this card worthy to spend Elite Wild Cards on it, because EWCs are a scarce resource.
- Usage/Maxed (U/M) shows the amount of players who use a card from those that have it maxed. Some cards can be harder to unlock and level up, so usage may not be a good indicator if it's being held down by other factors.
Due to the nature of the ladder system, card winrates aren't useful to understand the strength of a card. We think a mix of the stats listed above can paint a more accurate picture of the state of each card.
Tower Troops
The very high Usage/Maxed indicates that this is still a great card for those who could afford it.
Evolutions
Bomber made a splash in it's debut season and quickly became the most popular evolution. This is the first time we've seena U/M index over 100%, which means that many players chose to use it despite having it under-levelled.
Another interesting way to look at evolutions is to see how many players have unlocked them. Let's look at the Top 10,000 players:
Bomber had a decent release, which more Pass Royale purchases than the previous 2 seasons (Valkyrie and Ice Spirit). Wall Breakers, the first evolution that has been releases through and in-app purchase, was not as succesfull. This data doesn't tell us if it's due to the purchase method or simply lack of appeal, but what we know is that it's in close competition with Ice Spirit to become the least popular evolution.
Champions
No news in this section, Little Prince (LP) remained as the only relevant champion.
Spells
The Log used to be at the top, but this season Arrows took a very clear lead; probably due to the popularity of Evo Bomber.
Win Conditions
Lastly, win conditions are one of the best ways to look at archetype performance.
Even if not very popular when compared to other evolutions, Wall Breakers shine in the win conditions category, but the average rank shows that it isn't very strong.
Royal Hogs stand out with a great average rank among the most popular win conditions.
All Cards
If you want to find out about other cards that weren't included in any of the previous categories, here's a full list with every card in the game, sorted by usage in the leaderboard.
