Clash Royale League 2025
The first official news and details for the 2025 season of competitive Clash Royale!
Players and fans have been concerned for some time. After last years’ World Finals finished, we were told that CRL would return in 2025. Usually Supercell would publish roadmaps for esports in January or February, but as months went by, there were no news or updates anywhere.
Last week, the CRL 2025 Warmup tournament was announced, hinting that more would come soon, and soon is now today!
We are going to share the core structure of this new season, along with the prize pool, prize distribution and other news. But there are still some details to be released in the future; for instance, we don’t know when or where the World Finals will be celebrated.
The Basics
If you are simply looking for an overview, we’ll make it easy:
- Main stage: 4 events, 1 per month, from June to September
- World Finals slots: 12 players
- Total Prize Pool: $750,000 USD
Battle Format
The rulebook states that matches will be based on Bo3 Duels, but it’s unclear if these Duels will be handled with the in-game format or as separate battles.
Given that Tower Troop selection is still not possible with in-game Duels, the separate battles option seems more likely. In any case, this will most likely be specified in more detail when the 4 events are announced.
Main Format
Like last year, this year has a mixed path to reach one of the World Finals slots:
- Golden Tickets
- Point Leaderboard
To earn points and Golden Tickets, players have to participate in the 4 Golden Ticket Events.
This year brings back the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), which gives a last chance to the best players of the year.
World Finals Slots
The 12 player slots are distributed as follows:
- 4 from events, 1 for each
- 6 from the point leaderbord
- 1 from the LCQ
- 1 from a Chinese event
Road to World Finals
To become one of these 11 final players, this is what the path looks like:
- Finish among the top 1,000 players of Path of Legends
- Compete in the event qualifier ➜ earn points
- Compete in the event finals ➜ earn points and/or tickets
Other relevant requirements are:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have an account in good standing, to pass ToS checks
- Reside in a country where Clash Royale is available to download in the local app store
Golden Ticket Events
We don’t yet have all the details for these events, but we know their basic format, prizes and schedule. Unlike last year, it seems these monthly events will be handled by community organisers, instead of the ESL FACEIT Group, although it remains unclear if they may help with the qualifier stages.
Each of these events has a few different stages:
- Path of Legends ➜ Top 1,000 players
- Qualifier Day 1 (unknown format) ➜ Top 32 players
- Qualifier Day 2 (Double Round Robin) ➜ Top 12 players
- Event Finals
Golden Ticket Events start with Path of Legends. The top 1,000 players of the season can participate in the event qualifier. Path of Legends seasons end the first Monday of every month.
The event qualifiers are held the weekend that follows the PoL season end, just like last season. They last 2 days, and select the 12 players who advance to the event finals. The format for the first day is unknown for now. The second day is a Double Round Robin, with 4 groups of 8 players. The top 3 players of each group, 12 in total, advance to the event finals.
Lastly, the event finals are held the next weekend and also last 2 days. In this stage, 12 players compete in a double elimination bracket. The winner of the tournament earns a Golden Ticket, which directly grants a slot for the world finals; the runner-up earns a Silver Ticket, which grants a slot for the LCQ.
In summary, each of these events gives away:
- $50,000 USD, split among the top 12 players
- 1,120 points, split among the top 32 players
- 1 Golden Ticket
- 1 Silver Ticket
At RoyaleAPI, we plan to provide esports achievements for the top 64 players in each of these events.
Prize Distribution
Each of the 4 community events has the same prize distribution of $50,000 USD:

Golden Ticket Distribution
Under usual circumstances, the winner of each event receives a Golden Ticket.
But what if...
If the winner already has a Golden Ticket, the ticket is passed down; the runner-up gets it instead. This process can be repeated until a player without a Golden Ticket is met.
If the receiver of a Golden Ticket already had a Silver Ticket, the old Silver Ticket is passed down in the tournament in which it was obtained.
Silver Ticket Distribution
Under usual circumstances, the runner-up of each event receives a Silver Ticket.
But what if...
If the runner-up already has a Silver Ticket, the ticket is passed down; the 3rd player gets it instead. This process can be repeated until a player without a ticket is met.
In summary:
- Each player can only hold one ticket
- If a player can’t earn a ticket, the ticket is passed down
- If a player earns a better ticket, the old one is passed down where it was earned
Event Schedule

Point Leaderboard
Players will be ranked based on the points they earn during Qualifier Day 2s and Event Finals. Unlike in previous years, Qualifier Day 1s won’t provide points for the leaderboard.
After the 4 community events conclude, the point leaderboard will award:
- 4 Golden Tickets, to the 4 highest players who don’t have one already
- 8 Silver Tickets, to the 8 highest players who don’t have tickets already
This basically means that players in the top 22 of the leaderboard are very likely to receive (at least) Silver Tickets.
RoyaleAPI usually provides badges for all the CRL participants, which show their final rank in the leaderboard. We don’t know if we’ll be able to provide them to all participants until more details of these community events have been released.
Leaderboard Tiebreakers
If 2 or more players have the same amount of points, these tiebreakers are applied (in order):
- TB1: Total number of Event Final Wins
- TB2: Total number of CRL Points earned in Event Finals
- TB3: Average placement in all Path of Legends
Given that points will be so rare this year, average placement in Path of Legends will be an extremely relevant tiebreaker for RoyaleAPI profile badges.
Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ)
The 12 players with Silver Tickets are invited to participate in this event, which is scheduled for September 20-21st.
This tournament will have a double elimination format, like all the event finals.
The LCQ is expected to have a $50,000 USD prize pool (unknown distribution), and the winner earns the last Golden Ticket of the year.
Chinese Golden Ticket
China is the only region in which Clash Royale is played in separate servers, with a different version of the game.
Their local Golden Ticket is usually the main prize of Clash Royale Champions Cup (CRCC - 年皇室战争冠军杯). The details for this year’s edition haven’t been announced yet either.
World Finals
We don’t know anything about the World Finals for 2025, but the date of the LCQ means that it will happen sometime between October or December.
The dates we have seen in recent years are:
- 2017: December 3rd
- 2018: November 28th - December 1st
- 2019: December 3-7th
- 2020: December 5-6th
- 2021: December 3-5th
- 2022: September 23-25th
- 2023: November 24-26th
- 2024: November 1st - 3rd
- 2025: ???
We’ll let you know when we know something more specific or when tickets become available.
Lastly, we know that the prize pool for the World Finals is $500,000, which is the same as last year.
