Executioner Evolution
In recent months, there have been 2 clear content release patterns:
- 2 evolutions
- 1 evolution and 1 new card
Last Sunday we shared the details of Boss Bandit, the new Champion that is also released this season. This means that Executioner will be the main and only evolution of the season, which is the one you can unlock with Pass Royale.
The Executioner evolution card description says the following:
That's not an axe… This is an axe!
Evolved Executioner's axe deals more damage to enemies in close quarters and pushes them back.
Evolution Stats
As with recent evolutions, Supercell avoids giving basic stat buffs. The main stats of the normal Executioner are the same as the evolution.
Evolution Ability: Axe Smash!
When Executioner hits targets at a close range, the hit from his axe is much more powerful.
This extra power translates into more damage and a pushback, but only when the axe is on the way out, and not back. It affects both ground and air targets.
The close range needed for this effect to activate is 3.5 tiles. Executioner has a range of 4.5 tiles, although his axe projectile can reach up to 7.5 tiles away. This means that if he locks to far away targets and doesn’t move, his Axe Smash ability won’t activate.
The main ways to trigger it will be:
- Evolved Executioner is deployed very close to his target, in this 3.5 tile range
- The locked target moves towards the executioner and enters the 3.5 tile range
Axe Smash doubles the damage of the axe for close targets, both when going out and back, which can give this evolution +100% DPS.
Normal Axe | Axe Smash | |
---|---|---|
Damage out | 168 | 337 |
Damage back | 168 | 337 |
Damage Total | 336 | 674 |
This double damage also affects Crown Towers, but due to the range limitation mentioned earlier, it’s very unlikely to happen. You could trigger it by pushing Executioner closer to the tower with other troops, or if the opponent mistakenly pulls him closer with Tornado.
The pushback of Axe Smash is quite strong: 2 tiles, slighly more than a Rocket (1.8) or a Giant Snoball (1.8). This pushback is able to reset charges of troops like Ram Rider, but isn’t strong enough to push very heavy units like Lava Hound, Goblin Giant or Might Miner.
Evolution Cycles
Executioner needs 1 Cycle to activate the evolution, so 1 in every 2 deploys will be evolved.
Evolution Release
The Executioner Evolution will be released on April 7th, with the start of the new season.
Usually, card evolutions are released slightly before the end of the season, which is the first Monday of the month. As soon as this happens, you can unlock it with Wild Shards. After the new season begins, players who buy the Diamond Pass Royale get 6 Executioner shards to unlock it.
Other ways to get Executioner shards are:
- Level Up chests
- Live Events (in a future seasons)
- Shop Offers (in a future seasons)
- Legendary Lucky Drops
- Using Wild Shards
