Furnace Evolution
Yesterday we published all the details about the Furnace rework, which turns it from a building into a ground troop. But the changes for the card didn’t end there.
Furnace is also getting its own evolution this season, making the content for the August season entirely focused around this card. Furnace will be the main and only evolution of the season, which is the one you can unlock with Pass Royale.
The Furnace evolution card description says the following:
All fired up! When it’s hot and attacking, Evolved Furnace summons Fire Spirits even faster from hat to hearth.
Evolution Stats
As with recent evolutions, Supercell avoids giving basic stat buffs. The main stats of the normal Furnace are the same as the evolution.
Evolution Ability: Hot Spawns!
The one and only change for this evolution is this ability. It activates while Furnace is attacking, and significantly increases the frequency of Fire Spirit spawns.
The usual spawn time is 5 seconds, but Hot Spawns happen every 1.8 seconds instead. This means the frequency is x2.8 times higher. The DPS from the Fire Spirits is directly correlated with this spawn speed, so it also increases by +180%.
Aside from the spawn frequency, there’s another small change that can be relevant for the effectiveness of the evolution. Usually the Fire Spirits spawn on the front of the Furnace, but this changes when Evolved Furnace is in Hot Spawn mode; the Fire Spirits appear on the sides of the Furnace instead.
Fire Spirits from Hot Spawns alternate their side after each spawn. The first one always appears 1.5 tiles to the left of the Furnace, and the second 1.5 tiles to the right; the third to the left again, and so on. This can be very relevant when you are trying to pull troops with the spawned spirits, as it introduces an asymmetry in the arena.
This side spawn state is saved even after the Furnace stops attacking. If Furnace starts attacking again, it will continue the sequence from where it stopped. This means that the first spawn is always to the left during the first attack sequence, but may not for subsequent ones.
The last small detail we noticed is that Hot Spawns always linger for one additional spawn after Furnace has stopped attacking, so it doesn't simply spawn a spirit with each attack.
Evolution Cycles
Furnace needs 2 Cycles to activate the evolution, so 1 in every 3 deploys will be evolved.
Evolution Release
The Furnace Evolution will be released on August 4th, with the start of the new season.
Usually, card evolutions are released slightly before the end of the season, which is the first Monday of the month. As soon as this happens, you can unlock it with Wild Shards. After the new season begins, players who buy the Diamond Pass Royale get 6 Furnace shards to unlock it.
