Hero Wizard - January 2026 (Season 79)
Stats and ability details of the new Clash Royale Hero card for Wizard
Yesterday we covered the details of Hero Ice Golem, and today we’ll look into the other Hero of the season: Hero Wizard.
Hero Wizard will be the main Hero of January, featured in Pass Royale as the core reward.

Video Preview
Hero Wizard
As with all Heroes, the base stats are the same as the normal card. The only change is the Hero Ability it enables.
Hero Wizard’s description is:
After a decade of demolishing King Towers, Hero Wizard has learned to wield fire for flight!
His wings were forged in flame and fortune, but they’re mysteriously cool to the touch.
Ability: Fiery Flight
Note: all the following stats are from our developer build and subject to change. We use Tournament Standard stats (Level 11).
Fiery Flight is Wizard’s Hero Ability. It costs 1 Elixir, and the description says the following:
Launches into the air and throws fearsome fire tornadoes
When this ability is triggered, Wizard starts flying. This stage temporarily upgrades his main attack and increases his movement speed by +50%.
The flight stage lasts for 5 seconds, making him unreachable for enemy troops and spells that only damage ground targets.
While flying, the Wizard attacks get a tornado-like effect. He has time to shoot 3 of these enhanced attacks. After the 5 seconds, he returns to his ground form and keeps attacking as usual.
The tornadoes from enhanced attacks have 3 main advantages:
- Deal extra damage
- Pull together enemy troops, which pairs well with the main area damage
- Pull back the main target
The main reason for his pull-back effect is that the centre of the tornado is actually placed 0.5 tiles behind the main target. This effect is more noticeable against slow troops, such as Golem and Lava Hound; faster units like Hog Rider just look locked in place.
The tornado effect has a radius of 4 tiles, which is less than the Tornado spell (5.5 tiles). Although the Fiery Flight tornadoes have the same strength as the spell, they effectively pull less because they are shorter. Their duration is just 0.5 seconds, half of the Tornado spell (1 second).
Aside from pulling troops, each of the tornadoes deals 3 ticks of damage in quick succession:
- 1st: to crown towers and troops (43 HP)
- 2nd: to crown towers (38 HP)
- 3rd: to crown towers (38 HP)
This means that if Hero Wizard attacks a target that is 4 tiles away from your Crown Tower, each tornado will deal 119 damage. If all 3 tornadoes damage a tower, that’s a total of 357 HP. For reference, a Rocket spell does just slightly more (371 HP to Crown Towers).
The damage to troops is minor, but not irrelevant. With 2 of these tornadoes the damage is 86 HP, enough to kill Skeletons and Bats (81 HP).
How to unlock
Hero Wizard will be released on January 5th, with the start of the new season.
This Hero can be unlocked with premium Pass Royale from the January 2026 season. The version of Pass Royale that includes a Hero is only available after reaching Arena 15 at 5,000 trophies.
If this release follows the pattern set by Mini Pekka, Hero Wizard should become available in Hero Summons 2 weeks later (January 19th).
Duplicate Value
A recent change in Clash Royale removed the Duplicate Hero mechanic from Hero Summons. This means that duplicates should not be given unless you have already collected all the available Heroes. If this happens, Wizard is a Rare card, so in exchange you would receive:
- 20 Hero Fragments
- 1,140 Wizard Cards
Note that this is the maximum conversion, which is obtained after reaching Arena 28; this unlocks Chest Content Level 16. Players at lower arenas receive a slightly lower duplicate conversion.
