Stats and details the new Clash Royale card reworks.

Card Reworks - May 2025 (Season 71)

These might seem like new cards!

Table of Contents

Card Reworks

This season brings a new kind of additional content. Instead of another evolution or new card, we are getting 3 significant card reworks.

These aren't slight changes that we call "reworks" because they sit between buffs and nerfs. The changes aim to solve bigger issues with card concepts that cannot be easily addressed though balance changes.

The 3 cards in the limelight are:

  • Cannon Cart
  • Golden Knight
  • Goblin Hut

Cannon Cart Rework

There are several cards that have been released recently with HP triggers. Goblin Demolisher, Evolved Goblin Giant... players are now more used to this mechanic.

Cannon Cart is joining them, and ditching the Shield mechanic it used to have. Now both stages will share a single pool of HP, and the building stage is deployed when the HP gets below 50%.

Stage Old New
Shield 824 -
Building 824 -
Total 1648 1730

Overall, Cannon Cart will be similar in most situations, but different in a few.

The main difference is arguably that big spells and other damage sources will be able to directly damage the Building stage. Damage won't be wasted to finish breaking the Shield.

On the other hand, the moving stage will have 5% more HP, and the total HP also increases by 5%.

Other stats like Damage, speed, Hit Time... will remain exactly as before. This change only affects the Shield mechanic.

Last season, Cannon Cart had decent results among top players. In terms of usage, it was #61/152, with 54 uses in the Top 1,000.

Golden Knight

Golden Knight has a fairly unpredictable dash mechanic. It has changed a few times, confusing players even further. Previous Community Managers even tried to explain it in detail in obscure Twitter threads.

Card Reworks - May 2025 (Season 71)

This rework brings back some aspects of the old iteration. Golden Knight will be able to dash towards targets 360° around him. But unlike before, his range won't be locked into a semicircle, and the golden warrior will be able to dash backwards.

Other behaviour should remain as before, like stopping dashes after reaching a Crown Tower.

Other stats like Damage, speed, Hit Time... will remain exactly as before.

During last season, Golden Knight was the worst performing Champion. Of the Top 1,000 players, only 13 used it, with an average rank well over 500.

Goblin Hut

This is arguably the most special of the 3 reworks, because Goblin Hut is getting a new card image!

Aside from the cosmetic changes, Spear Goblin spawn mechanics are also receiving big changes. After this rework, Spear Goblins won't simply spawn at regular intervals. The Spear Goblins will be taking a nap inside, and wake up if enemies approach the hut.

The hut has a sight range of 6 tiles. When an enemy enters that range, goblins start spawning very fast, every 1.7 seconds!

But, if no enemies approach, there are no spawns, and the HP timer will still go down. When the hut is destroyed, a single Spear Goblin appears as a death spawn.

Old New
HP 847 1,305
Spawn Time 11 s 1.7 s
Range - 6 tiles
Lifetime 29 s 30 s
Death Spawn 1 1

This rework aims to make this card less passive, and more of a reactive & defensive tool. That's also why it's getting a +54% HP increase.

Will you want troops to target the hut? Or to keep it alive spawning countless Spear Goblins?

Last season, Goblin Hut remained one of those cards that struggle to fit in with competitive decks. Of the Top 1,000 decks of the season, Goblin Hut only appeared in 1.
