Skeleton Army Evolution
The content expected for next season was slightly spoiled with some of the other update announcements, but there are still many details for the new evolutions that haven't been shared.
Skeleton Army is the main evolution of October, which is the one you unlock when buying Pass Royale. We'll share more about the other evolution of the season soon (Royal Ghost).
The Evolved Skeleton Army description says the following:
Look alive! General Gerry's Skeletons are devoted to him, becoming invisible and indestructible in his presence. But alas, an army cannot survive without its General and will perish in his absence.
Evolution Stats
As with recent evolutions, Supercell avoids giving basic stat buffs. The main stats of the normal Skeleton Army are the same as the evolution.
Evolution Ability: Undead General!
The evolved Skeleton Army doesn't just deploy 15 skeletons, there's also a shielded General that spawns behind the swarm.

The shielded General has the ability to keep the skeletons of his army alive... sort of. If a skeleton is destroyed while the General is alive, the skeleton turns into a ghost.
Skeleton ghosts can keep dealing damage, but they are invisible and indestructible. The catch is that once the shielded General is destroyed, the ghosts disappear with him.
The General is a mix between a Skeleton and a Guard. He also has a shield, but it's much waker. Almost any damage source will destroy the shield.

The damage stats are also very similar:

Skeleton General deals the same damage as a normal skeleton per hit, but has a slightly higher Hit Speed. His melee range is also a bit longer, like a Guard.
Overall, the Skeleton Army has always been a fairly gimmicky card. This evolution covers some of it's weaknesses, but it's likely to just make it stronger against decks that already struggle against bait. Spells like Arrows and Poison will be a solid response, so they could become more popular this season.
A last thing to keep in mind is that one of the proposed balance changes for next season is a Hit Speed reduction for Skeletons. If this change becomes final, it would be a significant nerf to this card before it's even released.
Evolution Cycles
Skeleton Army needs 2 Cycles to activate the evolution, so 1 in every 3 deploys will be evolved.
Evolution Release
The Skeleton Army Evolution will be released on October 6th, with the start of the new season.
Usually, card evolutions are released slightly before the end of the season, which is the first Monday of the month. As soon as this happens, you can unlock it with Wild Shards. After the new season begins, players who buy the Diamond Pass Royale get 6 Skeleton Army shards to unlock it.
Other ways to get Skeleton Army shards are:
- Level Up chests
- Live Events (in a future seasons)
- Shop Offers (in a future seasons)
- Legendary Lucky Drops
- Using Wild Shards
This season will also introduce Seasonal Chests that may contain Skeleton Army shards. This evolution can only be obtained in Haunted Lucky Chests, not Phantom Lucky Chests.
Skeleton Army shards are not expected as part of the pity rewards, so obtaining them in chests seems to be the only option. Some of the most relevant probabilities are:
- 1/857 chance to get a Skeleton Army shard in each chest
- 1/5,144 chance to get a full Skeleton Army evolution in each chest
- 1/258 chance to get a full Skeleton Army evolution by opening 20 chests
