Giant Snowball Evolution
In recent months, there have been 2 clear content release patterns:
- 2 evolutions
- 1 evolution and 1 new card
Giant Snowball will be the main evolution of the season, which is the one you can unlock with Pass Royale. Will there be another evo? A new card? We’ll find out very soon!
The Giant Snowball evolution card description says the following:
A rolling snowball gathers no Troops... unless it’s evolved!
Evolved Giant Snowball gathers enemy Troops and rolls forward before breaking, which frees and slows the Troops down.
Evolution Stats
As with recent evolutions, Supercell avoids giving basic stat buffs. The main stats of the normal Giant Snowball are the same as the evolution.
Evolution Ability: Snow Bowling!
When Evolved Giant Snowball lands, it doesn’t push back enemies. Instead, they are trapped inside the snowball, and roll away with it 4 tiles.
This evolution ability seems fairly simple, but is also very strong! Troops of all weights and sizes get pulled away by this giant snowball, making it one of the most powerful spells for crowd control. Other spells like Tornado or the normal Snowball are limited by troop weights, but this evolution isn’t!
Golems, Lava Hounds... almost every troop that is in the rolling path will be pushed away, all except Protected Monk.
Compared to Tornado, the movement of the Evolved Giant Snowball is more limited. Troops can only be pushed in one direction, which is vertically away from your towers. There is room for some horizontal control, because when troops are trapped inside the snowball, they later reappear in the center of the path.
It’s relevant to know that this reappearance can cause your Towers and troops to retarget.
In some ways, Evolved Giant Snowball is closer to spells like The Log and Barbarian Barrel than the normal Giant Snowball.
Some similarities are:
- Rolls vertically
- Rolls back when deflected by Monk
But some differences are:
- Affects flying troops
- Can be deployed on the other side of the arena
Here are some stat comparisons:
Spell | Range | Width | Damage |
---|---|---|---|
Barbarian Barrel | 4.5 | 2.6 | 241 |
The Log | 10.1 | 3.9 | 290 |
Evo Snowball | 4 - 9 | 5.0 | 179 |
Although the range of the Evolved Giant Snowball is described as 4 tiles, the total area is much longer due to the snowball’s diameter of 5 tiles.
But watch out! The damage indicator when you hover this spell doesn’t take into account the radius extra length, so you can activate the King’s Tower if you aren’t careful.
Evolution Cycles
Giant Snowball needs 2 Cycles to activate the evolution, so 1 in every 3 deploys will be evolved.
Evolution Release
The Giant Snowball Evolution will be released on December 2nd, with the start of the new season.
Usually, card evolutions are released slightly before the end of the season, which is the first Monday of the month. As soon as this happens, you can unlock it with Wild Shards. After the new season begins, players who buy the Diamond Pass Royale get 6 Giant Snowball shards to unlock it.
Other ways to find Giant Snowball shards are:
- Level Up chests
- Season Shop (in a future seasons)
- Shop Offers (in a future seasons)
- Legendary Lucky Drops
