Season 47 Books of Clash + Super Champion Hog Rider (May 2023)
Graphic novel collection with Clash chararters to launch in May, and will be the star in May for Clash Royale.
A new collection of graphic novels featuring characters from Clash Royale and Clash of Clans will be released in May. To celebrate the launch, Clash Royale will feature cosmetics based on these characters for the May season.
There will be 2 new tower skins, 5 new emotes, and 40 banner items for the season, many of which references characters and story lines related to the comic book series.
Season 47 begins on Monday, May 1st, 2023. There won’t be any balance changes this season. Path of Legends will return to normal battle mode when the April season resets.

Books of Clash
The Books of Clash is an 8-volume series of graphic novels set in the world of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. Volume 1 follows a young Hog Rider named Terry, and his high flying hog Pim Pim, on an adventure filled with legendary battles, unlikely new friendships, and unforgivable family betrayal.
Volume 1 will go on sale on May 30th.
Right now, the book is available in English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Other languages might be added in the future.
You can pre-order Volume 1 of the series at https://BooksOfClash.com. Players who pre-order the book this way will receive an exclusive banner tha’s inspired by the book.
Arenas
Battles in May will take place at Hog Mountain, which is the current Arena 10. OG players will know this as the original Legendary Arena, when the Legendary Arena was at 3000 trophies.
Since Path of Legends now has its own arena, you won’t really see this arena often besides playing the different game modes at the events tab.
Tower Skins
There will be two tower skins available for this season. The first is included in the Gold tier of Pass Royale, while the second one can be purchased at the shop.
Hog Head (Pass Royale Gold)
This tower is literally the head of the Hog Rider, though he wears some nice sunglasses. The princess tower is modeled after the hammer carried by the Hog Rider.Owners of the Gold and Diamond Passes can unlock this skin at Tier 48.

Book Barricade (Shop)
The tower is literally a stack of books. It’s a bit hard to make out in the game, though certainly unique in concept. It will be available at the shop for $1.99 USD. Prices for other countries will be scaled accordingly to the app store tiers, so it may be more expensive depending on where you live.

Emotes
There will be five (5) new emotes this season. All of them are based on characters from the Books of Clash series.
Pim Pim: Smash, aka Hog Smash (Shop)
Pim Pim is the name of a hog in the book. In the emote, Pim Pim smashes at a huge crown from far above.

Rokkus: Angry, aka Hog Rider Angry (Gold Pass)
Rokkus is a Hog Rider from the book series. In this emote, he lifts his glasses and makes an angry face.
Unlock this from the Gold Pass.
Rokkus: Laugh, aka Hog Rider Laugh (Path of Legends)
Rokkus, a hog rider from the book series, laughs. There’s not much to say about this besides that it’s similar to all the other laughing emotes in the game.
Unlock this when you’ve reached League 4 Master 1 on the Path of Legends.
Terry: Plunger, aka Hog Rider Plunger (Season Shop)
Terry, another hog rider from the book series, gets hit by a plunger and becomes dizzy. This is my favorite emote of the season.

Terry, a hog rider from the book series, is transformed into a hog from some magic potion… elixir?

For this sneak peek, we can only show you the game play for the Champion Hog Rider happening next week. We can briefly describe what the other challenges are about. Some of these new game modes are really innovative and I hope that you’ll like them as much as I do. Gameplay videos for the other modes will be available a couple of days before the other challenges start.
Champion Hog Rider: May 1-7
Our first Super Champion! Terry is the main character from the Books of Clash graphic novel that’s featured in this season.
In this game mode, Terry is a Super Champion Hog Rider that plays like a regular Hog Rider, except that he has an ability called Hoggy Height, which throws himself to the sky, and drops down to the ground to deal area damage.
When we say high, we mean really really high.
So high that he could disappear from the screen. Yes, we’re talking about regular phones here.
His deals area damage when it arrives on the ground.
Here he is hitting a tower.
…and the opponent activated the ability while he is still hitting.
That landed him back onto the tower, dealing area damage to both the defending Musketeer and the tower. At challenge level, that’s 600 damage.
He will be the main event for the first week of the May season. We expect that special challenges will be available in the weekends.
Terry costs 4 elixir to deploy. His ability costs 1 elixir to activate.
Hoggy Heights gives a dash distance of 99.99 tiles. When it lands on the ground, it deals 600 area damage.

Champion Clash (Prebuilt Decks): May 8 - 14
10 prebuilt decks with Champions will be available. You’ll play with one of them randomly. Some of these decks are really bizarre.
We’ll post content about this on Saturday, May 6th.
Mega Monk: May 15 - 21
A chunky Monk spawns at the back of the map. The monk has more health than the regular Monk, but he moves and attacks slower, and only targets buildings.
The Mega Monk’s deflect ability costs 2 elixir, but it has a larger radius and will deflect everything inside it. It also gives all friendly units a damage reduction bonus — or it’s a bit like a Heal spell.
Like all champions, there can only be one on the battle field at any time. Once one dies, another spawns a few seconds later.
We’ll post more details about this game mode on Saturday, May 13.
Boost Fields: May 22 - 28
Boost Fields is played in a map with no rivers or bridges, but with towers. Players can only deploy units close to their own towers (like in touchdown). Boost bottles drop periodically at the center of the map, and troops will be able to pick them up.
Boosts include, Rage, Invisibility, Clone and Heal. Three troops are disabled in this mode: Miner, Goblin Barrel, Goblin Drill.
This is one of the most original game modes I have seen in Clash Royale in recent years. It’s a lot of fun. I can’t wait to share the game play with you. Check back on the weekend before the challenge starts. We’ll post content about this mode on Saturday, May 20th.
Champion Hog Rider Returns: May 29 - June 4
Terry returns to the game at the end of the season.
Loading Screen
The new season's loading screen features Terry as the main character. Using a combination of 2D comic art style combined with 3D contour shading, it’s one of my favorite loading screens in recent years!
Pass Royale Champion
You’ll unlock the Monk at Tier 121 of the pass if you buy the Diamond Pass Royale.
