2023 Summer Update

Over the past few days, we covered the newest and most groundbreaking changes of the upcoming update: Elite Levels and Card Evolutions. If you missed any of them, this is a great time to read our blogs with all the details:

Today we’ll be covering the remaining changes of the update, which are mostly adjustments and extensions to already existing features.

More King Levels: Level Up to 70!

Since account levels were untangled from King Tower levels, these levels have become a better way to keep track of your progression without affecting gameplay. There are a lot of players who have already reached Level 50, so the maximum level is going to be increased to 70.

To be consistent with the new card level, King Towers will also be able to level up to 15. This king tower upgrade is obtained when your account reaches level 54. As usual with king levels, the experience required for each new level grows as you level up. How much? For comparison, going from King Tower 14 to 15 will demand around 6 times more experience than 13 to 14 does.

King Tower Level Account Level Experience for Upgrade
2 2 20
3 3 50
4 5 100
5 7 200
6 10 400
7 14 1,000
8 18 2,000
9 22 5,000
10 26 10,000
11 30 20,000
12 34 35,000
13 38 50,000
14 42 80,000
15 54 450,000
Bonus 55-70 5,000,000

Experience Required

The experience required to reach level 70 follows this exponential trend, it creates a progression path that rises VERY fast; the end will be covered by clouds. Looking at these stats makes us think that levels are adopting a new meaning. They used to be a finish line that gave the sense of maxing an account, and now they’ll be the ultimate progression marker. It seems unlikely that anyone will ever reach the level 70 limit under the current progression system, because that’s not the point anymore.

It’s also worth mentioning that the amount of experience earned from leveling up cards to 15 will be very significant, almost 10 times more than all the other levels combined.

Level 70

To reach level 70, you’ll need to upgrade around 100 cards to level 15, which would take several years. So again, not something that you are supposed to reach, it’s just an experience system with which you can measure all players.

There are other ways to earn experience, like Masteries, donations and OG achievements, but for most players these will be minor contributors. Masteries can give up to 80K experience, and donations are unlimited, but even the most devoted donors (see the Donations Leaderboard) are below 1M. Some of these players will have a significant head start, and that only puts them around Level 58.

Reaching each of these new levels will reward you with Level Up chests, as usual. Chests from even levels (52, 54, 56...) will be similar to the old ones, with 50% chance of finding a Legendary card and no chances of getting a Champion. The odd level chests (51, 53, 55...) will give you an Evolution Shard for a random card (not a Wild Shard).

Level Size Legendary Shard
Odd Levels 1 0% 100%
Even Levels 233 50% 0%

Trophy Road: It’s over 9000! (almost)

One of Mohamed Light’s long list of achievements is his ladder personal best, with 8,946 trophies in 2021. Now you’ll have a chance to catch up to him!

The Trophy Road is being extended with 3 new arenas:

  • Boot Camp (7,500 - 7,999 trophies)
  • Clash Fest (8,000 - 8,499 trophies)
  • Pancakes (8,500 - 8,999 trophies)

This increases the limit of the Trophy Road from 7,500 to 9,000 trophies. With the new arenas, there will also be new run-of-the-mill rewards: mostly wild cards and gold, with a total value of around 200K gold (3K EWCs for those looking ahead).

Item Amount
Gems 75
Gold 37,000
Magic Chest 1
Common Wild Cards 250
Rare Wild Cards 30
Epic Wild Cards 10
Legendary Wild Cards 2
Champion Wild Cards 2

These new arenas will also deliver slightly better rewards from the chest cycle, as chests will be around 5% bigger; comparing arena 23 (the new max), with arena 20 (the old max).

Mastery Rewards: Fewer gems and more gold

Masteries introduced a great way for players to earn resources. It seems that as a result, many have earned a lot of gems and are reluctant to spend them, despite being restricted by other resources such as gold. It seems likely that one of the reasons for this is the lack of ways to spend these gems, which are mostly limited to challenges, the shop and Global Tournament premium rewards.

Regardless of the reason, some Mastery rewards that were leading to this abundance of gems are going to be replaced by gold rewards. This will affect all the Step 3 rewards of the 2nd Tasks.

Rarity Old Reward New Reward
Common 300 Gems 5,000 Gold
Rare 300 Gems 9,000 Gold
Epic 300 Gems 15,000 Gold
Legendary 300 Gems 18,000 Gold
Champion 450 Gems 25,000 Gold

Players can still earn gems with the Masteries of 1st Task - Step 3 and Champions 2nd Task - Step 2, although the ones that are being removed were the most generous ones.

If you’d prefer to receive gems over gold, you can still claim these gems before the update is released this Monday. Gems can give you great value when used to buy Global Tournament rewards, so we strongly recommend you to claim as many as you can.

Events Tab

This was announced a while ago, after the last update, and it’s finally being delivered: you’ll be able to earn crowns and chests from the events tab. This was a very requested feature from players, who wanted to keep playing without the pressure and level dependency of Trophy Road and Path of Legends.

And more good new for 2v2 fans, the "Play Again" button is also coming back!

Gold Economy

With the announcement of Elite Wild Cards, we learned that card overflows into gold for maxed cards were being removed. Given that this meant up to 2/3 of the gold earned by some players, it seemed appropriate to compensate this with a gold economy boost.

We now have more details of what this involves: the most frequent chests will have their base amount of gold tripled. This includes Gold Cages and chests such as Silver, Gold, Giant, Magic and Crowns.

With the new changes and the introduction of Elite Wild Cards, we are expecting gold to become an excess resource for all those players that have upgraded their whole collection to level 14. For everyone else, this should be a huge boost to help them catch up faster; especially underlevelled players who didn’t take advantage of the gold overflow anyway.

Here’s a quick comparison of what level 14 players can earn each season from the chest cycle:

Rewards Old New
Gold 177K 529K
Cards (as Gold Value) 340K 355K
Cards (as Elite Value) 27K 29K

The differences are mainly due to the higher arena and the gold boost.

If you are looking to obtain as many Elite Wild Cards as possible but don’t know what to do with this much gold, remember to buy cards from the Daily Shop as often as you can.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • You’ll be able to claim unclaimed rewards from previous seasons of Pass Royale.
  • Fixed attack range interactions with Tornado.
  • Fixed some visual and audio glitches.
